Cooks Gate is a large romantic private Italian villa set on sun-drenched North facing slopes with extensive views across Cooks Beach village and Mercury Bay. It's a commanding spot and dominates this part of the surrounding landscape.
Ideally suited and situated, it has been recently renovated as a private function venue and 5-bedroom lodge. The grounds are large, and include farm animals, wildlife, a small native reserve and an orchard. There are vineyards adjacent at Mercury Bay Estate, a boat launching ramp, close walking access to the Purangi inlet, Cooks Beach and settlement with its restaurants and village shops.
A short drive takes you to Flaxmill Bay, and the passenger ferry to Whitianga with its ample dining, bars, water activities, and shopping. A short drive in the other direction takes in the famous Hotwater Beach, Cathedral Cove and many coastal walks. There are boutique breweries with relaxed dining at Hahei and Whenuakite. A very friendly 9 hole golf course is nearby and welcomes visitors.
