Woodpecker Hut is set on a coastal cliff top property on the famous Great Coast Highway, half way between Greymouth and Westport and just a seven minute drive from Punakaiki (site of the 'Pancake Rocks'). Like our little Hexagon, just up the road - it is a great base to explore this stunning region from.
Woodpecker Hut consists of two small, off-grid timber huts, adjoined by a covered outdoor kitchen and living area. One hut is the master bedroom - with a luxurious king size bed. The other is a comfortable lounge hut with a wood-burning stove. Built by a local builder and artist, the huts have been crafted right down to the position of the nails. Waney edge weatherboard and native timber lining give the huts a rustic, natural charm. The interior decor is cosy, but contemporary. Soft furs and natural fibres add to the feeling of simple luxury.
